CMS is Content Management System
Computer software system for organizing and facilitating collaborative creation of documents and other content.
web application used for managing websites and web content...it means we can update or renew of the website, cause we can upload the picture, text cause the text or picture is in and there is no learning process.
The example of CMS : Joomla, Mambo, Xoops, Zope.
What is Portal....
Portal is pages intended to serve as "main pages" or "gateway" for specific topics or areas.
Proposes to be a major starting site for user when they get connected to the web.
Some major general portals include Yahoo, Excite, Netscape, Lycos, Cnet and Microsoft Network.

Basic Concepts of web page

• What is Website, web page and homepage...

A website is a collection of web pages that given some images, video or digital assets is hosted on one or more web server..usually accesible through internet.

Web page is a document, typically written in HTML which can be acces via HTTP, a protocol that transfers information from the web server to diplay in the user's web browser.

Homepage is the display of the website or web page itself

• What is LMS and CMS

LMS is Learning Management Sysytem

a set of software tools designed to manage user learning interventions.

learner self servives where everything is provided you just apply it. such as self registeration on istructor led training, training workflow such as user notification, manager approval, collaborative learning, sharing, discussion etc. . are some of additional dimnsion of leading Learning Management Systems.

The Example of LMS are Moodle, Sakai, Dokoes, Claroline..etc.

In E- Learning is one of the example of LMS using Moodle.
